Spinach Beet / Swiss Chard

Spinach Beet / Swiss Chard

Leaf Beets were probably a food source long before the beet-root was ever developed for consumption. They are a very versatile group of plants; they can be harvested at baby leaf stage for salads or left to mature into colourful ornamentals. Although related to Spinach they tend to be more bolt resistant and suffer from fewer disease problems. Tozer breeding has concentrated on the Red or Rhubarb Chards, although our selections of the traditional Swiss Chard and Spinach Beets remain exceptional.
