The development of hybrid leeks has been a complex operation, but the expertise of our breeding staff has brought an increasing range of top quality hybrids to the marketplace. The parent lines of all our hybrids have been carefully chosen to give excellent uniformity, vigour and good disease resistance, particularly to rust. We are pleased to offer a selection of our newest F1 hybrid varieties which are available to growers for the first time.
Can be sown in modules in January, giving an early, heavy crop when prices are often at a premium. Medium blue-green foliage, good length shanks with little or no tendency to bulb. Good resistance to bolting.
Midseason maturity cropping from mid October. Terrific vigour and uniformity with a medium shank and dark erect leaves. Proving to be a popular choice with growers.
Maincrop variety that also performs well in earlier and later plantings. Our heaviest yielder in trials. Dark blue-green erect foliage showing good field resistance to rust. Bulky, well filled shanks which are easy to strip and peel. A strong root structure suggests this variety will perform well in organic situations.
Second early variety that bulks quickly. Good dark blue-green foliage which contrasts well with the lengthy white shank. Trials have shown this variety to be a consistent performer with good uniformity, bulbing resistance and field resistance to rust.
Very versatile variety which can be used throughout the season but which is well suited to the mid/late period. Holds well in the field, good shank length and neat erect dark blue-green flag. Good resistance to bulbing, strips and trims well.
Late season variety that stands well in the field. Dark blue-green foliage with good shank length.
