Celery
Tozer Seeds was the first company to develop commercially productive and reliable hybrid celery varieties. Initially this was introduced into the UK market where they have gained a strong following.
Our very active breeding programme continues today and is focussed on not only the UK but also the on demands of the international markets, with our varieties being adopted around the world. A range of varieties is available from self blanching types to those with light green and dark green petioles.
There are varieties with excellent resistance to bolting through to those with slower summer growth and more prolonged field holding characteristics. Short types to exceptionally tall types and a range of petiole textures and size characteristics are available.
Growers of all varieties should be aware that early sown celery (in the UK before mid February) runs the risk of premature bolting after planting, such sowing are made entirely at the grower's risk. To minimise the risk a very rapidly growing variety should be chosen and one designated with slow bolting characteristics.
All celery offered has been treated against Septoria.

Hopkins Fenlander
Green, traditional British winter variety for earthing up, also suited to growing on the surface in the autumn. Stands well for late crops and has excellent flavour.
Loretta F1
Self blanching hybrid. Vigorous and quick growing with succulent, smooth and upright sticks. A bold attractive variety with good flavour.
Monterey F1
Dark green vigorous variety. Attractive, very fleshy tight sticks hold well in the autumn. Performs well in Southern Europe, the market leading variety in Spain.
Victoria F1
The UK's market leader for early and midseason celery production. Mid green colour, tall with fleshy petioles. This quick growing hybrid has good standing ability, is slow to bolt from early plantings and performs well under difficult spring conditions. Victoria is one of the best flavoured celery varieties available.
