Calabrese is a relatively new crop in the UK, rising quickly from the ranks of unusual oriental vegetable to a mainstay vegetable in the UK diet. Breeding has focused on tightly formed heads and bead quality. Calabrese is a relatively fast maturing member of the Brassica family and can be grown in most areas of the UK.
