Borecole (Curly Kale)

Borecole (Curly Kale)

Borecoles (or Kales) are non-heading brassicas; they tend to be very hardy and are thus particularly suited to overwintering. They tend not to suffer from clubroot or cabbage rootfly and are not particularly troubled by birds either. In many ways they are a forgotten vegetable, they have been eaten for centuries in the UK but their popularity declined over the last 100 years. Recently the popularity of these crops has increased and the breeders at Tozer have been looking at Borecoles with renewed interest.
